Hello Moodlers,
With the excellent news that the Bootstrap theme (thanks to Bas) has been released as stable I have produced a release candidate version of Shoehorn to test (not on production servers please) for Moodle 2.7. You can download it from: https://github.com/gjb2048/moodle-theme_shoehorn/releases/tag/V2.7.0.4 and you need to download and install the parent theme too: https://moodle.org/plugins/download.php/6987/theme_bootstrap_moodle27_2014100300.zip.
If all goes well, I will release a stable version during next week. If you find any issues, then please post here or on https://github.com/gjb2048/moodle-theme_shoehorn/issues.
The included RTL experimental functionality is behind that of Essential (https://github.com/DBezemer/moodle-theme_essential/issues/249) as it started out in Shoehorn but then I progressed the idea in Essential. If everything goes to plan there then I'll improve Shoehorn from what I have learnt.
I have created Shoehorn for various reasons:
- To have a theme that is clean, crisp and elegant.
- Improve my technical skills.
- Be creative and enjoy the development process. Such as the accordion blocks.
- Add new functionality that has been lacking in Moodle that exists in Wordpress. Mainly the site pages, but also lots of 'draft' / 'published' concepts.
Further ideas for the future:
- Savable colour schemes. Perhaps a file in JSON format.
- Adapting layouts. I rather like the Wordpress way where you can set the column layout easily though the UI on a per page type basis.
- Less curvy option. A reasonable amount of elements have border radii and perhaps that is not to everybodies taste.
I am happy with Shoehorn and I hope you like it too, cheers,
Gareth
