Not a linguist but - 2 completely separate meanings of the same set of letters
Moot -as in 'moot point' is an adjective: Subject to debate, dispute, or uncertainty No necessarily negative connotations there
Moot -as in 'MoodleMoot' is a noun (the Anglo-Saxon usage): 'A regular gathering of people having a common interest.' OR 'An assembly held for debate'
But no less confusing than 'free' as in speech or as in beer and I'm sure all of us in the community are familiar with those explanations
