Unable to add course self completion block

Unable to add course self completion block

Hi everyone,

I am an absolute beginner with this Moodle lark so please excuse my ignorance if the question has been asked already and everyone says "Oh, not that again!".

Using Moodle 2.7.1

I actually have two issues.

I have created a course in lesson format and have a few questions for the student to answer. I have set the completion of the course to trigger when the lesson is complete and the grade is 4 (one point for each question, four questions).

However, the course shows as not complete even if they complete the activity - i.e. the report shows that the lesson is complete but the course is not.

Q1. Why? What might I have missed?

To try to force the course to be complete I thought  I would try adding the ability to allow the student to self-complete the course. I can add a 'self completion block' to the admin page but I can't add it to the course - the option for it isn't in the drop down list of available blocks when I'm editing the course.

Q2. How do I add the block?

Of course, if Q1 is answered I may not need Q2!

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Welcome to Moodle then Dave, and no, the only way we learn is by asking questions, whether from within or from other people, never be afraid to ask. No such thing as a foolish question...

First, try the documentation on Blocks https://docs.moodle.org/27/en/Managing_blocks, then as you get to understanding more, you can look a little deeper at this block in particular . There is a connection between this block ad the cron process so it may be you have set it up correctly, but the cron is not updating properly.   Read first, then you may be able to work through it.
