HTML Block - Twitter feed

HTML Block - Twitter feed

Hi

I am trying to add a Twitter feed to my Moodle frontpage.  I have added an HTML block and copied and pasted the HTML widget code from my Twitter account using the instructions here:

http://www.howtomoodle.com/blog/entry/moodle-tips-add-a-twitter-feed-to-your-course-page

However, this just displays a link to my Twitter feed, rather than displaying the feed itself.

Version 2.4.17

Any ideas how I can embed/display the feed itself and not just the link?

Could you try with the instructions on the sandbox site demo.moodle.net and see if you get the same result?

Hi Mary

Thanks for responding.  Exactly the same result on the Sandbox site - just the link, not the feed...

Hi,

I have just tried myself (I spotted your post and investigated as I work at HowToMoodle) and it works for me in 2.4 and 2.7.

twitterr embedded in 2.4 HTML block  Twitter feed embedded in HTML block

Have you tried using the Standard or Clean theme - it may be that there is code in the theme that is playing havoc with the Twitter code and suppressing the script that generates the feed. I did notice that as soon as the page renders, I too can see the link and not the feed, but it does then show up.

Hope that helps

Carl

Hi both - where did you try on the sandbox site? I have just tried with an HTML block on the front page and I get the feed Ok. I wonder if it is a browser issue or issue with some setting on your own computer or network?

Ha!  Just tried it on IE and it displays as a feed, it is displaying as a link on Chrome

Thanks Carl

I have tried all themes and it's exactly the same on all.  We are using a TotaraLMS distro of Moodle, so I'm imagining this may be a factor

Okay, so I have tried the site on other people's machines using Chrome, IE and Firefox and the Twitter feed displays as expected.

It must be something cached in my Chrome affecting it (guessing)

Thanks all for your input smile
