Reusability of courses

Reusability of courses

Hi everybody,

I would like to make my teachers capable to reuse some courses, or some activities, created by another teacher. So, they will be able to perform their own course 'reusing' material already created.

I want to allow teachers to select the courses, or activities, they want to use in their course.

Is there any extension or any way to do that?? I'm new in Moodle and I really appreciate any help!!

Thank you very much!!

Courses as a whole can be backed up and restored - either replacing the exisiting content of a course, merging with it, or as completley new course.

Activities can also be backed up and restored to another course, but there is also the possible use of a plugin called Sharing Cart which allows you to move resources around between courses.

Shopping cart is lovely for copying resources and activities between courses. The prerequisite is that users must have teacher role in all involved courses, including the source course. On technical level, you can just do hidden role assignment in the source courses.

Hello all.

I like this a lot. Funnily enough, this topic came up at a recent conference I attended, sharing resources, case studies for best practice across a HE institution-specifically when an institution has more than one site...we recognised the value of an LMS-in terms of bridging good practice.

The sharing cart-mmmmm...might there be a possibility for this to be a core feature, that affords within-institutional- sharing, and cross-institutional-shared practice...linked-up thinking such as, a portal if you like for cross-institution collaboration-I say this because Richard O-is just up the road from me-here in South Wales! Hello Richard *wave* smile

Some thinking...that is all.

Cheers,

Dawn

The Sharing Cart seems really good - I'll be trying it out myself after my holiday.

But if you have rights in both courses you can also use "Import" from the course you want to import the activity into. Click Import, choose the course you want to import from, choose "activities", then make sure only the activities you want are ticked (chosen).

If the activities are in section 3 of their course they will also be imported to section 3 in the new course but since activities are easily moved this isn't usually a problem.
