HI,

We are HE institution and use Moodle (1.4.3) as our general-purpose 'second string' VLE.  We use LDAP to authenticate internal users and manually create (CSV) others.

The question: We are hosting some school kids over the summer and are using Moodle as a notice board and learning environment for them.  We have decided that it is best if the kids don't have email accounts (due to sensitivity around 'grooming' and flaming of each other etc), but now that I try to import the CSV file it won't let me because the users have no email address.  Can anyone suggest a way around this?

I have exactly the same issues here.. would be great for some help. At present I have had to set up all users to have the address noemail@domainname.com, but moodle also seems to default to email enabled (on 260 students). I have set the server to deliver all main to a "blackhole", but this is not ideal as it is going to impact on server performance.
