I was just wondering what the latest php accelerator recommendations are for use with moodle in general (and moodle 1.5 in particular). I am running Apache 1.3.33 (Unix) on linux, PHP 4.3.9, and MYSQL 4.0.22.

Best regards,

My current recommendation is TurkMMCache, technically the best. There are two problems with it:

- it isn't being maintained any more,

- there is a rather serious problem with the license, one that can only be resolved by the original developer, who's been hired away by Zend Studios and is unlikely to undermine his employers flagship product

There is eaccelerator, a project that took the code of TuckMMCache and promised to work on it, but they have made a gross legal gaffe (they stripped the original copyright notices, a big no-no).

For the time being, it is avaiable, so you can use it. Don't tie your boat to it, though. It will probably disappear or change form in the medium term.

Hi,

A quick questions related to PHP accelerators - do either or both of these, or any other alternatives, work with PHP 5?

Tim.  smile
