Due date and "overdue date" with Turnitin - no locking

Moodle 2.3.8 with Turnitin integrator

At my institution, late submissions are permitted (with accumulating penalties) up to one week. Moodle doesn't seem to have an overdue cutoff date; one has to lock the submissions manually on that date, but at least there is a way to do it.

The Turnitin plugin allows late submissions, but again no overdue cutoff date may be specified. Nor can the submissions be locked to prohibit further submissions/resubmissions, which means the student can resubmit even after a paper is graded, wiping out the grade and feedback given. We don't want this to happen.

We don't want to use the "restrict access" dates option, because this would prohibit students from accessing their graded papers. What is the solution? We need a "due date" and also an "overdue date" whereupon (re-)submissions are automatically prohibited.
