I'm having some problems with moodle menu bar because I am unable to access submenus using Essential theme.

I don't think this has anything to do with the Essential theme, it is more likely caused by a recent change to make the language menu scrollable. In which case this is a Moodle BUG and NOT a CONTRIB one so can you close CONTRIB-4641  and open one in Moodle Tracker: for Moodle (MDL) ?
