SCORM Application Question

Hi, I have been trying to use CourseGenie with NO luck what-so-ever I was wondering if there was another application that is easy to use to create scorm files. I was playing with the word toolbar that someone made for quizzes – is there something like this that can be added into Microsoft word to create scorms?

Thanks

Karrie

You could try this http://eduforge.org/projects/exe/ (not a Word add-in).

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason why the Moodle Quiz module does not meet your needs for Quizzes?

No, I LOVE the quiz!!!  I don't want to use SCORM for quizzes - I would like to transfer some of my  handouts into SCORM files.

I'll check your link out now, thanks!

No problem! I just wondered. smile

I suspect you may have already thought about these options but howabout the "Compose a web page" Resource for straight forward handouts,Wiki or Book if you need linking or multiple pages (Book is not aStandard module) or print them to pdf, upload and then link to the fileusing the appropriate resource (pdfcreator is quite good for this).

Yes, I was going to suggest you take a look at the eXe project @ Eduforge. If you can wait a couple of days we will be releasing a new version of eXe on the 10th of May. It will include a greatly improved interface as well as improved SCORM export functionality. There's a sneak preview screenshot available here: http://blog.cfdl.auckland.ac.nz/brent/
and you can find out more about eXe here: http://exe.cfdl.auckland.ac.nz

Hi Karrie

After 2 days hard work and soul searching trying to get anything out of SCORM - I gave up (on iis anyway). It was just problematic at every turn - I could make one or two things work - but always as a trade off - and never got the SCORM stuff working anyway.

I took the advice of another and used Apache as the server. I started from scratch on a new(ish) machine running w2k. A couple of hours later I was blessed with the SCORM packages working (at least to a point where I could make educated decisions).

I am now running Apache 2.0, PHP 4.3.11, moodle 1.4.4+, MySQL - and with one or two careful tweaks - seem to be on the road to success.

It is nice knowing that files created in CG actually work (there are still one or two issues there - but nothing insurmountable).
