Feature wish: Custom icon for resource, especially URL

Feature wish: Custom icon for resource, especially URL

When I provide URL resources for my students, they are often not links to text pages, but are links to particular videos, simulations, etc. I'd like to make that more obvious on the course page. I think the best way to do this would be to allow the course creator to specify a custom icon for the resource. The LTI external tool allows this, for example.

Could this be done as a plugin to add to "Common Module Settings," perhaps? Does anyone have suggestions about how to do it?

I know I could fake the effect by creating a label with a URL instead, but I'll lose completion tracking if I do that, and it's useful to know which resources my students are actually viewing. (On a separate note, I'd like to allow students to rate resources, but that should probably be a separate thread!)

Thanks for any suggestions....

Hi Elizabeth,

+1 vote

I agree with you. I use the file resource to add externally developed web pages (developed in Storyline) as interactive presentations. The icon does not represent this at all. A choice would be great.

Hi Elizabeth

I have the same desire (problem), have you been able to fix it somehow?

Thanks, regards
