Hi...

I have been muddling with my Moodle site for about 6 weeks, and have had absolutely no problems with it until this morning......Now it might be a case of bad karma, but I will leave it to you folks to decide.....

I decided to copy a picture on this site (the community_big.gif) to play with a bit on my site.  I uploaded it, and tried to insert it into a block, and ever since then have been unable to access my site...at least on my computer...my husband can access my site, from his 'puter, but I cannot access it from mine...I can access anywhere else I want on the www, including some of my favorite moodle sites, but I cannot access my own.........any suggestions folks? 

By the way - the .gif in question is showing on my site, and I really don't want it to - I was just playing with the image to see how the "washed out-watermarky" aspect of it worked...Being a connected learner and all, I have to try these things on for size.....

Help, please.....it is driving me crazy, as my Moodle site is my homepage (so that I can muddle with it when not doing other stuff.........

My husband is able to see it on his 'puter with no problem, and I suspect I could on another puter as well......just something very "hinky" going on with my 'puter....which is not unusual....if there is a glitch, i will find it...my husband thinks I should be a professional beta-tester........LOL.............Lee

I'm guessing you tried to insert the pic using HTML code on the front page? This should be OK except something went wrong somewhere (see attachment)

If you can't access your site then (I'm guessing) you will need to access it from elsewhere and modify the HTML code.

I have registered as dagza on your site. If you give me access rights to the front page then I will have a look at the HTML for you. I am a trusted person (hopefully!!!) and I'm sure a few people around here can vouch for me. You can, obviously, delete the account when I have finished (if I can fix it!!)

Lee, have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies?

Hi Wildgirrrrrrrrrrllllll.....I too am a catwoman - my puss - Ms. SCSI TechnoCat serves as my avatar on my own site.......

Anyway - I did so many things to try to work it out - including the cache/cookies thing........ran CCleaner, did a defrag, tried a system restore, ran a registry cleaner, uninstalled a couple of programs I installed yesterday and then did everything a second time........

The odd thing is that when i checked the tools/internet options/connections/lan settings/ I put a checkmark in a box that is usually unchecked, and my site suddenly popped up........VERY VERY Weird.....

Thank you so much for your help, and offers of more help......I don't know why I didn't do this before, but the error message I was getting was that standard one you get when, for some reason, you can't connect to the server......Because we had to refresh our router a couple of times this morning, (before the great mystery occurred), I didn't even think to go to the Internet options and check the "Lan" settings.......anyway, I did that, and my page returned.......Go figure........

Darren, I was just booting up the other computer in our living room to follow your instructions when Richard's question piqued my curiousity......

Again, thank you both so very much.........Now I am going to get rid of that picture, and never, ever, ever play like that again...LOL...(bear in mind that I would have given credit if hadn't lost access to my site in the process of trying the picture - I do not make a habit of "lifting" other people's intellectual properties......

No worries, Martin himself said that he "snaffled (it) off the web", until he can take a real one with real moodlers at a MoodleMoot 微笑
