Hello everybody,

My problem is that, I have to create books in Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi etc.

When i copy the text from word document, or also tried importing HTML into book module, it is converted into junk characters. I have also installed Hndi Language pack in moodle, but problem still exist..

Please guide me how to resolve this problem...

With Thanks & Regards.

This sounds like a unicode problem. Unicode is the way that characters can be "commonized" between languages. Perhaps looking up unicode in Wikipedia will give you some insight on what is happening with your process.

In Moodle, check to be sure that you set it up as utf-8. Let us know what you find out. I hope it works for you.

Thanks Doug Moody for your reply.....I have set UTF-8 while creating Mysql database. There was no error message for UTF-8 at the time of installation of moodle.

Now, I tried to check by copy-paste some hindi content in book from a site..and it was perfectly displaying. But if , I import HTML or copy Hindi content from Pagemaker files on my PC, all content converts into junk characters उदास
