I have my students upload assignemtns and complete quizes. When I log in as adimn, I can see that there is i.e. 16 assignments uploaded or 25 quiz attempts. But when I click on the lin to either one of those it just shows screen with "nothing to display". Any help would be appreciated

There is not enough information in this question for me to give you an answer - perhaps if you could start with your moodle version and then list the settings for the quiz and the assignment in question someone might be able to help.
