book backup problem

I'm trying to restaure a Moodle 1.4 (2004083100) backup in a more recent Moodle 1.4.4 (2004083140). The only problem I see is that all my books disappeared.
I was using the 2004081100 version of the book module. Is there any way I can solve this without having to save all the old book chapters as htm and importing them in the new book?

Book restore does not support restoring from previous versions, I did not know how to do at the time of creating it.

The recommended way is:
  1. dump complete Moodle database to some backup file,
  2. back up both web and data root
  3. rename the old www root
  4. upload latest 1.4.4+ to new www root, add latest Book module
  5. the upgrade should work just fine

If you can not upgrade the original server, I am afraid you will have install some test server with old version of moodle and book module and do a fresh backup after the upgrade. You can alway get any older version directly from cvs.
