A New Attendance Idea

A New Attendance Idea

My idea is to begin the development of an attendance module that uses one of the many available face recognition api (such as that created by Lambda. Teachers take photos of each individual in their class at the beginning of the term. This might result in an extremely user-friendly attendance marking interface that simply involves uploading classroom photos at the end of each week. In-class attendance is taken by pulling out your smartphone and one snap.

It would be similar to face tagging used in Google+ and Facebook. Any thoughts or possible starting points?

Furthermore, is anyone interested in being paid to develop this for our open-source community?

Hi Daniel,

I was searching to see if anyone in the community had a similar idea about this and found this thread.

Have you heard about openCV library? I also noticed the http://face-alt.org/ project. I would be interested to discuss this further with you.
