Definitive answer on "thumbs down" emoticon

I'm using Moodle 1.9. I've searched the forum and found Tim's answer (on 6 April 2011) about removing the "thumbs down" icon that occurs whenever anyone types the letter "n" followed by a closed paren:

Note that you can change the list of what is subsituted by going to

Site administration ► Appearance ► HTML settings.

And the Moodle doc for that page shows a nice table with various emoticons (smiley faces, frowns, etc). But in my installation of Moodle 1.9. I don't see that chart. Was it added to Moodle 2.0, or just never installed in my particular instance of Moodle 1.9?  Thanks.

Peter

I think that feature used to exist, but it was probably somewhere else in the admin menu. You will have to search for it.

In Moodle 1.9 it's here: Administration ► Appearance ► HTML editor

Joseph gets the prize!  Emoticons are under "HTML editor," not "HTML settings" in 1.9.  That's a really nice feature - once you find it. Hmm - I wonder if info can be added to the "alt" attribute in the tag for the image so these emoticons can be made accessible to students with disabilities? (a screen reader would say "Smiley face" or "Thumbs up").

I should have been able to find it on my own, but my mother always did say - still does say - that I "have bananas in front of my eyes."  微笑

Thanks.
