Drag 'n' drop file upload

Drag 'n' drop file upload

I'm a system administrator using Moodle 2.3.0.  I'm unable to upload files using the drag 'n' drop feature – using IE 8 & Google Chrome – when I try to do so the message 'Add file(s) here' isn't displayed, only the Windows 'Move' label alongside the file – see screenshot below.  I can't find any evidence that a drag 'n' drop block is installed that might conflict with the feature built-into 2.3.

Any ideas please?

IE8 does not support drag and drop upload (Microsoft have finally implemented support in IE10).

I can see from the icons on display, that you have not got AJAX course editing enabled, this is a pre-requisite for drag & drop upload to work (make sure it is enabled both at the site level and in your user profile).

Thanks very much Davo – problem sorted on Chrome & Firefox big grin – just have to wait for IE10 now to check it there!

Drag 'n' drop file upload - change limit?

by Nyree Williams -

Hello Davo

I have a 40 mb upload limit on my site and course but I can't drag and drop a 12 mb file - is there anyway to increase the upload limit on the drag and drop upload?

Thanks

Nyree

The limit should be based on the course and site limits (whichever is smallest).

The limits within your PHP.ini file will also come into play (although the site limits should be based on that). Make sure that both the 'post_max_size' and the 'upload_max_filesize' are large enough (note that the post_max_size will need to be slightly larger than the 'upload_max_filesize', as there are a few bytes of additional information included with each file upload).

If that doesn't help, please copy and paste the exact error message here, so I look into why this is not working.
