I have a word doc that I cannot get to open as non 'read only'. The original source file is fine when I open it on my computer, but when students open it from our online campus it is read only. I have tried copying and pasting all the content into a new document and resaving but to no avail. We use 1.9.6.

Do you mean they can't download it or that it has a message that they can only read but not edit it? I am just wondering if it is because it is MS Word 2010 which gives you that message until you actually download the document and save it to your computer and then you can edit it. I am wondering if this is a Word issue and not a Moodle issue.

The students can download it and open the file. However, once it opens it is Read Only, while the source document I am uploading is not.

Oh, some sort of glitch above sorry people! I only posted once...
If they save it and then open it, can they edit it then? Rather than opening immediately?
I just tried, and if I do it from here it is 'read only' when opened, but not 'read only' when saved and then reopened.
