I'm not an academic so access to articles for me is limited, i.e. expensive. It'd be great to have an academic version of Wikipedia open to everyone and I think it could inspire new generations of researchers.
It's also nice to be able to link to articles as supportive evidence and not have readers blocked by a paywall.
