File Icons in a course

Mary, In Moodle pre 2.0 file icons were definitely present inside folders whether they were created in Moodle or uploaded as .zip files see attached screenshot of our 1.9.* site

This is a screenshot of the same files (yes they have had the names changes for clarity purposes) in Moodle 2.2 and yes they were uploaded as a .zip file into the course and then extracted as they were above, but this time using the Moodle 2.* method.

I thought it may be something to do with the renaming of the files and the missing Thumbs.db file, so I uploaded a different zipped folder of files and got the same result. Here's the really weird part though, in the 2.2 screenshot if I click on "Edit" and then on the cog icon next to the folder in the next screen then I get the screenshot below.

Files showing associated file icons!

It may be this is how it is supposed to be, but if so, why show the file icons at all if you just add them as single resources into a topic or week section in a course.

This really shouldn't bug me but the visual detection of a file extension is really important for many pupils especiallt SEN ones at that!

Hi Colin - yes, I knew they were present in 1.9 (we are still on 1.9 ) but I meant I wondered if they were present in early versions of 2.0 or not. I have a screenshot in my book where the icons are present in a folder but I can't remember if I took the screenshot when the editing was on or not糊涂 I have taken the liberty of changing the subject title to see if it prompts others to respond with comments.

I have messed around with several Moodle 2.*.* sites and come across this problem on all of them. I originally posted this problem back in January http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=194355 but there were unusually no responders to that thread, hence the re-post. I can't make my mind up if it's a bug (because the icons show up when you "edit" the folder) or whether it is a new design (all of the videos I can find show this being the way files are displayed inside folders/.zip folders).

It is only an aesthetic issue as functonality is not affected, but it is an important feature in my opinion that needs adding back into future releases IF it's not a bug!
