Conditional activities: Conditional Activities for entire sections?

Hello folks,

is there a possibility to use conditional activities for entire sections and not just for single elements in it? I imagine a possibilty to use the Restrict access settings (http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Restrict_access_settings) when editing the section (http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Section_summary) to determine e.g. the time of access to all elements in that section.

Is there already a way to do that?

If not that is a feature request for sure!

We completed the change but it's awaiting peer review. I twiddled the issue settings so hopefully somebody at HQ will notice that. 微笑

Are section conditions prepended to activities conditions or completely changing them? That is, if section conditions are met can there be further activity conditions for activities in the section? 微笑

Well, 5 weeks-5 days a week course, each week a section and each day an activity. Sections and activities cannot be accessed before their due date. But also resources in each section cannot be accessed before their respective week. So you would have to set conditios for individual activities but would like to use the section conditions to determine collective access to section resources.

The reason I'm asking is because if the solution referred to in http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-24419 is merely a bulk adjustment of the activities conditions to their parent section's conditions then I may have a simpler approach which may not require core changes.

Afaict the crux of this whole issue is that activity conditions are contextual and a course section is not a context and so any core change for conditional sections which does not make the section a context is just a hack, not a genuine solution. 微笑

They are completely independent, so for example, you could set it so that Topic 3 (whole section) only appears once a quiz in Topic 2 has been completed with a grade of at least 40%. Then you could have one particular activity inside Topic 3 which does not appear until a certain date.
