Where can I download FindIt

Hello, I'm trying to download the Findit from

http://teachingtools.michael-rottmeier.de/jcl_findit_v6_1.htm

clicking on the source files(zip file) but I get an error, can you tell me where can I get these files to create "click the mistake" tests?

I'm using version 6 of hotpotatoes and 2.1.1 of moodle.

regards,

Unfortunately Michael Rottmeier no longer makes the downloads available, but if you're lucky someone here on the forums may be able to offer to send you the zip file directly.

Alternatively you can use the QuizPort module (for Moodle 1.x) or the HotPot module for Moodle 2.x, as these already contain the several Rottmeier output formats, including FindIt (a) and (b). so you can simply upload the JCloze file, i.e. the ".jcl" file, and let QuizPort/HotPot do the merging for you.

Gordon

Thanks Gordon, could you tell me where I can find documentation on how to do the merging you mention, I have uploaded my jCloze file, but can't see any settings for that.

In these output formats you mention, is there any that could be helpful creating drag-and-drop matching tests, I've looked at this tutorial http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Drag_and_Drop_question_tutorial but I want to do a text version with 10 questions, and I understand that using this plugin I would need to create 20 images of text to achieve this.

thanks and regards

  1. Install QuizPort on your Moodle 1.x system
    OR
Install HotPot on your Moodle 2.x system
  2. create JCloze file, ".jcl" on your PC
  3. Login to Moodle, and navigate to a course page
  4. Enable "Edit mode" on course page
  5. Locate course topic/week where you wish to add the JCloze
  6. On Moodle 1.x, select "QuizPort" from "Add an activity" menu
    OR
On Moodle 2.x, select "HotPot" form "Add an activity" menu
  7. Upload JCloze file and set it as the "Source file name"
  8. Save changes
  9. On Moodle 1.x, edit QuizPort -> Edit quizzes -> click edit button for quiz
    OR
    On Moodle 2.x, edit HotPot
  10. set "Output format" to "Find It (a)" or "Find It (b)"

cheers
Gordon

Works great! Thanks Gordon. Do you have any suggestions on drag-and-drop text questions?

Hi Rosaluz,

Gordon has provided you with a neat solution boca aberta but if you do want the original Find-It files I can send you them (it's OK with Michael Rottmeier - I've checked).

You might find them useful if you wanted to do some customisations.

Write to me privately - my email is in my profile.

Cheers,

Glenys
