How do I edit this line and change enrol to enroll across the the site. I am using 1.9.5. I have also installed English US and made that the default but still no change.
You are about to enrol yourself as a member of this course. Are you sure you wish to do this?

In addition to making US English the site-wide default, you'll need to change the language preference in your profile. If you still find strings that are not correct, you can edit them by going to Site administration->Languages->Language editing. It looks like most of the 'enrol' strings are in the moodle.php file. Thanks but how to you set the the preferred language to En_US in the file. In what seciton is my profile area ? I found out how to do it manually.
I tried En_US and English US and still nothing
