Moodle 1.9 - Moodle 2.1 - Mahara 1.4

Hi

We are looking to have three networked (using MNET) systems. Students will login to Moodle 1.9 (College VLE) first, then they click on a link within Moodle 1.9 which will SSO them onto Moodle 2.1 (student Intranet). Within Moodle 2.1 there will be a link which will SSO them to Mahara 1.4 (e-portfolio, PDP system). But! There is a problem with this linear style setup, there is a limitation on remote users bouncing from one system to another then to another.

Ive read through this post: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=108982 but can't find the code to overcome the bounce limitation. Has anyone else worked around this as we need this linear style as certain elements in Moodle 2.1 will be used as part of their PDPs, which will be exported to Mahara using the new export feature?

Cheers

Ali

Hi Ali

Did you ever get this issue resolved? We are using CAS SSO to link our v1.9 Moodles together and MNet with Mahara. This has worked well however as there is no profile syncing when users roam between Moodles students need to know (in our case) that they have a curriculum Moodle profile and a student intranet profile. Our CAS server authenticates against Active Directory.

Hi Peter

Apologies for not replying sooner, haven't checked this forum for a while.

No we didn't get it sorted as our students login to the student extranet (on Moodle 2.2) and MNET to their courses on Moodle 1.9 version. The extranet has also an MNET link to Mahara and works quite well but not what I would have liked.

We have started our plans for the 2012-2013 academic year and will keep an eye on Martyn's annoucement of removing MNET for Moodle 2.3 next June (http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=175158). Also, with the new feature of Multi-tenancy (MDL-28946) for Moodle 2.3, which would possibly assist us with our 8 Moodle installs and maybe our VLE/extranet setup next year.

Also, we stll do not have some form of authentication for the students logging in, which is out of my hands at the moment, but hopefully we will for next year.

An interesting and busy 2012 coming our way!

Cheers

Ali
