Issue with uploading a DOCX file in Moodle2.0.1 (Build: 20101225)

Hello All,

I have an assignment activity where participants are asked to upload their assignment in doc, docx or rtf file format. However, half of them were successful while others have a document that was uploaded without an extension on it. They were using a Windows OS so it's not a Mac issue where the file extension wasn't added.

Any clues what might be going on? It's not a bug as many, including myself, could upload a docx, a doc and an rtf.

Is this an April fool's joke? smile

Thank you in advance for any help you might provide,

Kristina

Just to provide more information on this very bizarre problem, 1/3 of the participants uploaded files that didn't have attachments whereas 2/3 had attachments.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Did they rename them as they uploaded them? There was a bug in a previous version of Moodle 2.0 that wouldn't let you see the file if it had been renamed without an extension.

Mary,

I put a notice telling them not to rename, but in some cases, they did not rename, just uploaded it. Very, very strange.

Well now I have given them all a tutorial on how to add the proper file extension if it disappeared while uploading. I guess that will have to do for now.

Thanks for your input.

I am familiar with those document types. It doesn't matter which type they upload, the file extension dissapears.

Besides, all our participants useMS  Office as this is a corporate project.
