testing in moodle 2.0 - I'm a NOOB

I have to take an English as a Second Langague test that I have in .pdf format and somehow get it on to our school's Moodle.

The glitch is that I have no idea how to do it. I can make simple multiple choice questions but this is more difficult.

For example there is a reading seciotn where the students will have to read a passage and then answer question on it. I need the entire passage visible to them and then yhe 6 questions related to this passage visible at the same time.

This is just the first section... but it would be nice to get at least taht far.

I will also need listening exercises and stuff.. .more details later...

Thanks,

Hi Rob,

I'm not expert at quiz but for the reading piece, you could put the Description question type (which is really just a place for text) with instructions to click on a link that opens a new window with the passage in it, then instructions to click on the next question, which would be one or all of your 6 questions.

Mary Cooch will probably come up with a more elegant solution 満面の笑顔

He calls my name - and I appear!満面の笑顔  Actually, Rob, I agree with Ben. Using a description box will do for your reading passage. (Don't know if you know this but there is a Moodle book on Second Language teaching if you look in the Moodle books section -that has a lot of ideas for Moodle with languages. It is 1.9 not 2.0 though but its use of the Quiz is very similar in 2.0)

NOT to my great surprise, Ms. Mary has just named a resource of which I did not know (mimicking Churchill diction here) until now, and which may be very valuable to my institution as we engage with more ESL  endeavors world wide.

Which is a long way of thanking you, Rob, for asking a question that taught me more than you may have learned from us 賛成

I must admit I am very pleasantly surprised. THANK YOU all!

I will check into the suggestions made and report back here with results or more questions.

Again, Thank You!
