hi,

Our students and teachers can't access the general forums in the front page,

I've checked the permissions for the forums in general and every forums separately and no rule prevent them from accessing these forums they get this message " You do not have the permission to view discussions in this forum ".

 

N.B. we don't have Student nor teachers on the system they are all authenticated users until they reach thier courses where they are classified in roles.

Hi,

Please see the documentation News forum for details of how to enable logged-in users to view forum discussions. The problem has been fixed in recent versions of Moodle, so you may wish to consider upgrading.

Hassan,

Check to make sure the forums in question are not News Forums.  I had the same problem the first time I presented Moodle forums to a large group of teachers in my building for a professional development session.  It, unfortunately, made me look like I didn't know what I was doing, which was true to a certain extent, and thus caused some of the teachers new to Moodle to not trust it as a reliable communications tool.

If that is the case, the learning opportunity will be 'expanded' just a bit and may require a few extra email communications or announcements from you.
