Networking without xmlrpc?

Networking without xmlrpc?

Hi,

I am confused. Perhaps I additionally am blind - because I cannot find appropriate hints:

In Moodle 1.9. , menu: server > environment says:
should be installed and enabled for best results The xmlrpc extension is needed for hub communication, and useful for web services and Moodle networking.

docs.moodle.org/en/MNet says:
MNet requires the use of xmlrpc

Is xmlrpc mandatory or useful for MNet or is networking refering to something different? Is it possible to roam to another moodle-installation without php-xmlrpc?

thanks
Herbert

As far as I know, PHP extensions xmlrpc, openssl and curl are required for MNet. You are right that the string should be clearer about that.

agreed with David - if you plan to use MNET, you need openssl, curl and xmlrpc.
