Thanks again for the tip about iFrame. Allows me to put text above and below the frame if I want, not to mention resizing the frame.
In other news, I finally figured out Jing. At least the part where you really do have to set the screen capture area correctly , just like you do in Snagit ( which I use every day). And if you do not use a full screen view in PPT (Set Up Show, Browsed by an individual window), resizing the PPT window allows that annoying tool bar a place outside of the capture screen. I like iSpringFree but am worried about the education license limitations if a gov agency uses my iSpringFree for training.
Now I believe I have a straight forward process for creating swf files using free software and can place them in any Moodle content window. I am now starting to look at free swf -> flv converters.
