How to upload many files in one pass

How to upload many files in one pass

Folks

I want to load an entire resource library in one pass instead of one file at a time. With forty or more documents, this becomes a tedious and time consuming task. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Keith

Hi Keith, zip the file and upload the zip file to your course files, then unzip it there.

I usually put the zip file in a folder on the server before unzipping it.

Thanks for that. I am locked out of my server at the moment and waiting for the ISP to reboot it. In the meantime, I just uploaded one at a time since it is still serving. I am going to make sure I can ftp into the course file dir as well now.

Thanks again for the tip.

Keith,

It shouldn't matter if you're "locked out" of the server.

  1. Compress your files locally.
  2. Login to Moodle site
  3. Use the "Files" option under the course admin section to create a folder
  4. Upload the compressed files
  5. You are then shown the uploaded file with options in blue 9rt side) one of which is to "unzip". This will decompress your file and make all files available. From here you can also move the files around to different folders

Give it a try and let me know how it works.
