Turnitin License Help

Hi, I dont know much about Turnitin so I would like to know how does the Turnitin licenses tie with the Moodle users’ account. Is it necessary that the number of Turnitin licenses must equal to the number of Moodle user accounts?

If the number of the Moodle user accounts is more than the number of turnitin licenses, what will happen? Can the exceeded users still be able to submit their assignment to Turnitin?

Hi,

Generally the institution that the Moodle install belongs to will have a Turnitin License. That Turnitin account is connected to by Moodle via the Turnitin API using credentials defined in the administration scripts / configuration screens associated with the plug in. Students will have user accounts, those user accounts can be associated with one or more Turnitin institution accounts.

The Turnitin license, in some cases, may have a limited number of student user accounts that can be associated with it. If it is the case that the student limit is reached for an account, then when a student attempts to submit to any class associated with that Turnitin account and they do not already have their user account associated with the Turnitin account, then they will get an API error displayed on screen saying something like: "Student limit for this account has been reached. Cannot join student to this class."

Hope that helps explain things a little.

Cheers
Paul

How our Turn It In account works, is we pay for a certain number of users....not necessarily the same number of accounts we have in Moodle.  As long as the accounts we have in Moodle that are utilizing Turn it in (not all do) don't go over what we've paid for we're fine....does that make sense?
