How can you add a "subject" line to email messages that you send from MOODLE to your students?

Hi Steve
Are you talking about the emails sent from Messages? If so, the emails are only sent if the user is offline for the time specified in their Message Settings.

These emails do not have a subject line as it's just a copy of the text typed into the message area. I would add the subject at the start of the message (as part of message becomes the subject).

Let us know if you are talking about emails from elsewhere.

Cheers
Teresa

This is something I would love to have . I know the message system is tied to the user, so it would be near impossible to add a course, but even if we could find a way to add the SENDER'S name to the list it would be helpful. We hide e-mails from all users (though instructors can get them) as a safety precaution; so this feature would be great if anyone knows any way to do it.

Just started posting the first of what I'm sure will be many more queries (thanks to all who responded!), and forgot that I posted this one last summer until I did a search for my name.

In any event, thanks to all who responded.  This would be a good feature to add to MOODLE.  I mean, if you can have a subject in the ANNOUNCEMENTS section of MOODLE (in fact, you're REQUIRED to have one), this option should be available for sending email messages from MOODLE.
