Hi Richard,

Have you tried turning editing on and clicking the navigation block edit icon then changing the setting 'Generate navigation for the following'?

Just moving this discussion to the testing and QA forum in case anyone else has anything to add...

Hi,

Can we hide the "Participants" from the navigation menu block. Present "Participants" link is displaying under the "Site Page" and the "My Courses" link. I want to hide only the "Participants" from the two. Can any one help with this.

Hi,

To hide the Navigation and Session Blocks,

  1. login as the Teacher or higher role and open a course.
  2. Turn the editor ON.
  3. Click the editor icon (it's a hand with a pencil in my theme) in the Session or Navigation headers.
  4. Edit the block setup section "Where this block apears".
  5. Edit the block setup section "On this page".  Change "Visible" from YES to NO.
  6. Save the change.

You must do this in each course in which you want to hide these blocks.

And Richard, you can edit each Topic or Weekly Section and give the section your own name.  You must uncheck "Use default section name " and then type in a name that represents the section content.  The new name will appear in the Navigation Block instead of the default section name.  NICE FEATURE smile.

Clarence

Hi, all, I'd like to customize Navigation and Settings block. Actually, I'd like to hide some links, change links hierarchy and put together the contents of the two blocks in a single one. Is that possible? How/where can I do that? Will I face problems on courses pages? Or when upgrading versions? regards

I am having a similar issue. I don't want the Site Pages to appear in the Navigation block because my list is extensive and I have created another menu to deal with it. Any help here would be really appreciated.

Did anyone discover if you can edit what is visible within the Navigation block? I want to hide 'My home' if possible so students cannot get to that page.

Hi Louise,

Have you come across the settings in Settings > Site administration > Appearance > Navigation? You can set the default home page to the site front page, though I'm not sure whether that hides My home completely or not.

Hi Helen,

Thanks for replying. The default homepage is set as Site, but these settings don't affect what's displayed in the Navigation block or where the 'My home' navigates to unfortunately.

Hmm, it was possible in Moodle 1.9 to not use My Moodle / My home at all, but this doesn't seem possible in Moodle 2. I thought that the issue was reported in the Moodle Tracker but have had a look and can't find it! If you have a spare minute, perhaps you could create an issue for it.

Hi all,

I would like that all  Site pages appear in the navigation block for guest users, i.e. for everypbody visiting the site.

This seems only be possible if the user as already log on.

I would appreciate any help given!

Many thanks in advance !

I am having a similiar problem. I do not want my students to see the courses link on the My Moodle page. I am uing Moodle 2.1 . I have tried Settings - Site Administration - Appearance - Navigation and have tried all combinations to hide the courses and categories. I can get the categories to hide, but not the courses. The strange thing is, once or twice I have gotten both to not show, but they would return the next time I logged in as the test student.

My problem is slightly different in that we have a now redundant link in the Site Pages section. This link points to MRBS which we used to use as our room booking system, but it has now been superseded by another system. In 1.9 I could add and remove these links, but for the life of me I can't find where to remove this link now. Any help would be gratefully received.

I thought I'd add this image to illustrate my problem. The highlighted area contains a link which points to a redundant page, and so is misleading as we now have another Room Booking system in place. I can't figure out how to delete this item from the Navigation Block and would be grateful for any help and advice from forum members.
