Restore problem by rookie

I am totally a rookie with Moodle and Linux so please bear with me.

Recently, our server crashed with Moodle on it. I don't believe there were any valid backups but the hard drive was still accessible. The old server was on Fedora Core Linux and the new one has Ubuntu 9.1.

I have copied all the files from the htdocs and moodledata folders and placed them in the appropriate places on the new server. Moodle "seems" to be working but is not. I can get to the website and see our courses but no one can log in, including me (admin).

I am not sure what version of Moodle I have but it was current last summer. The old OS had PHP4 and the new on is PHP5.

I don't know what else you might need but if you can help with anything please help.

thank you

Bill

Problem solved

I have removed all the old sessions and had to give read/write permissions to the moodledata folder. I thought that I already did that but apparently not.
