Right now, we are generating a lot a lot of CLOZE questions and we are inserting general feedback, wrong feedback, and correct feedback. We produce everything in PSPad and upload it to our question bank in aiken format. The way we wrote our questions is:
What is the question to the question?
A. Correct answer.
B. Wrong answer.
C. wrong answer.
D. Wrong answer.
E. Wrong answer.
ANSWER: A
Right now we upload these questions as aiken and insert them to our question bank.
The problem we are facing is the tediousness of having to go into each question and insert a, incorrect feedback and correct feedback, etc. Is there a way to just write everything on the PSpad? For example like after the question write Incorrect feedback: blah blah blah... Please let me know if you can help. This would save us a lot of time and resources. Thank you.
Tedious indeed. It looks like Aiken format is not the right place to start. Have you considered any of the many Excel or Word based templates instead? If you are doing large numbers of questions, and need to input feedback too,
they seem to me to offer a much more efficient editing approach.
See

and
http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?rid=578
for two different Word templates.
I'm not sure if these support Cloze questions with feedback though.
I developed my own Word template which
supports Cloze questions with feedback, and
uses a table-based layout. It has Word 2003
and Word 2007 versions of the template.
You can find it at www.moodle2word.net
login/password mcqstudent/mcq.
At present, though, you would need to
convert the Word files into Moodle
questions via that server, then export them
as Moodle Question XML files, then import
them into your own server.

If you want to insert feedback you can't use AIKEN format. Gift format has more possibilities for giving feedback (though I don't think it has "general feedback".
Do you really mean CLOZE questions? From the docs:
"Import Limitation: You can only import one Embedded Answer question at a time. So if you were thinking of creating a .txt file to import several of these questions at one time it won't work."
But it is possible to put several CLOZE questions in one moodle question. That's one of the handy things with CLOZE, that you can have a multipart question which can be laid out quite flexibly.
I think there should probably be a way to import them using an XML file, but I haven't tried.
CLOZE question are basically without a GUI when making them. You can easily prepare them in a text editor and just paste them in. (One question at a time.)
CLOZE syntax is a bit geeky and I know that I have used a spreadsheet to assemble the {...} expressions

If it means what I think it means then it is incorrect. So if you were thinking of creating a .txt file to import several of these questions at one time it should work at least in Moodle XML format.
Edit: I've removed that clause from the docs.

Thank you all for your input. I have looked into GIFT a little more and it was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Looking into it more, I had a question based on it.
Here is a link to the new question I had based on GIFT formats.
