When some teachers edit their courses the hyperlinks suddenly change look to underlined ones which are blue or red (seems that blue are the ones that are not clicked on and the red ones are recently used). Usually the hyperlinks look just like any text and are not underlined. This makes the course look unnecessarily colourful. What could be the prolbem? Any suggestions of how to fix this? (I cannot post a screenshot because the picture is too big to be posted)

It sounds like you're going to want to edit your theme.
First, you need to find out which theme you're using. If you go to "Site Administration" > "Appearance" > "Themes" > "Theme Selector," the one with the box around it is the one you're using.
Next, you'll want to edit the "styles_color.css" file.
Do you know anything about CSS? If not, try this tutorial: http://w3schools.com/css/
Good luck!

Could that be a problem with themes? The thing is that only in some cases this is the case. Only when two of our teachers modified the course they got this strange 'theme' unvoluntary appear. All the others have the usual look. Obviously none of them have messed with the code - simply used their course to add content.

I've hit the self-same problem. All of a sudden all the hyperlinks (blue) are underlined and change to purple when visited.
But it seems to be a setting restricted to myself, as tutor. When I enter the site as a student under a different name, all is as it was.
Does anyone know which setting I've inadvertently changed?

After doing yet another search I came up with a pointer that seemed odd - but worked.
Somehow a whole load of extra html had become saved in one of my labels - screeds of the stuff. Removing it alone did nothing, but deleting the label and starting afresh restored the hyperlinks to what they've always been.
Worth knowing ...
