When you unzip the file you should get a folder structure, look for a folder that contains files which should include a screenshot.jpg and config.php and upload that to your moodle/theme folder on your server.

It's a simple process when you know how.

I'm guessing you are not familiar with FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
FTP software like FileZilla allows you to upload files to your host server.

If you have never used this form of file transfer before, then it might be an idea for you to talk to your Moodle Administrator, the person who manages Moodle for your organisation. They will be able to upload it for you.

Hi Hayley,
Here are my notes on how I did it - let me know if it works for you, Grace

To download and Transfer a New Moodle theme from Themza

Open moodle site and log in as admin

Go to Administration> appearance> themes> theme selector

Scroll down to bottom and click on Themza icon

Choose and download a theme

Save under Theme folder on Desktop

Double click to unzip file

Open Firezilla FTP (white FZ on Red square)(Google Firezilla for free download)

Enter info:

HOST: put your site url here (Ex. onlinebusinessenglish.com)

USER: Pwd:

On right side of screen, find your file (Ex. esl-courses), double click

Scroll down to Theme folder, double click

Scroll down again (NB. if file is compressed you must unzip file and save on your desktop (I made a file called themes for mine), but this should have been already done, if not ‘right click’ compressed file you previously downloaded and select EXTRACT file)

Click refresh or (function)f5

(To check) Double click on file (not zipped) ex. children-education

You should see a list of everything in the file, for example header etc.

To go back, click on the first icon of a yellow file followed by 2 dots .. (top in list)

Right click on file (ex. children-education)

Remote site (upper right) should say esl-courses/theme

Right click on file (ex. children-education)

Click upload.

Go back to your open moodle theme selector

Refresh (f5)

Theme will upload in list.
