thank you for understanding my need.
I can not find a way to import or export a specific quiz, which is what I need to do. I DO NOT have the option of backing up and restoring the entire course.

We are moving to a new server, they want to start with a clean install. They will allow me to move my lessons and questionnaires over with out having to recreate them. Is there any way to do this? Just copy or backup and restore lessons and questionnaires, I have already recreated the topic page and the 9 topic introductions.
Joseph responded:
Just do a backup of all your courses and restore them to your new server.

PS.- There's no point asking the same question on the Lesson, Quiz and Questionnaire forums.

I would add:
I have been given the same goal and started work on it yesterday. I am going from 1.5.3 to 1.9.6 and was told NOT to include users. Lucky for us, we do not seem to have any issues with content jumping past 1.6. However, I still do a selective backup on the old server, course by course, making sure I get just what I want. I download the backup and the upload it to a localhost of the same version as our production server. I look at the course there. If I am happy, repeat the backup and restore process to the new server. It only takes one slip to defeat the goal of a clean install (like accidentally adding 5000 users to the new server), so I add the extra step.
Remember the restore options on your new server: adding to an existing course, adding to an existing course and deleting existing content first or creating an existing course.
I assume you are talking about the topic sections, not the topic pages. If you backup and restore the course, it will transfer just about everything including words in the topic sections, your lessons (any activities and resources you included in your backup) and etc.
FYI: I deleted your post in Lesson as part of formum SOP.
Best Chris
I have been throught the back up and restore documentation. I can not find a way to import or export a specific quiz, which is what I need to do. I DO NOT have the option of backing up and restoring the entire course.
If you read the posts I put in the Quiz and questionair section, they are specific to those sections. I have resigned myself to the fact I will have to recreate the lessons on the new server. Which I am in the process of doing.
DO NOT have the option of backing up and restoring the entire course. I tried to make that clear in my orginal post under lessons, apparantly I did not.
If there is a way , like the was in the Glossary module (export to xml, then import), for the Quiz and Questionaire module, I would appreciate the guidence. I always read the documentation first before posting, telling me to re-read the documentation is a waste of your time and mine.
I'll show you how stupid I am , I have been through the docs 3 times and still havent a clue how to kick of a manual backup. Its says set these parematers and the click the continue button, the only button I see a "save" button, dummy me huh.
For those of you that have helped me over this past month, I really appreciate. I am on a pretty tight deadline, I am not a teacher, I am an employee, with 0 experience with these types of programs.
From what you say it appears that you do not have the necessary "permissions" on your moodle site to backup/restore the course activities. If you do not have at least "teacher" permissions on that course, there is obviously not much you can do. This is not a matter of reading the doc, it's quite simply a matter of asking the admin of your moodle site to give you the necessary role and permissions.
