further editing. The paper then appears in two, partially overlapping versions on the same screen: the student's original submission and the edited version with comments I have added. They are no longer differentiated in two blocks, as they are supposed to be. I can no longer make any changes and the "final grade" button is grayed-out and unusable -- as are the Save Changes / Cancel / Save and show next / Next buttons (all nonfunctioning)I have tried different browsers (Firefox and Safari) and different computers (various Macs and PCs), but the result is the same. I am doing the initial grading on a Mac.
Students pasting in papers as text-only files or Word files (with the code hitching a ride) seems to make no difference.
