Hello

I do hope someone can help because I am in dire straits sad

I get this error (error/admin/accessdenied) when trying to access http://mysite.org/admin/settings.php?section=frontpagesettings (Frontpage Settings are no longer listed under >admin > frontpage)

Other inidcators that something is terribly wrong:

No "Edit This Page" button on front page and nothing happens when I try editing the command line to http://mysite.org/course/view.php?id=1edit=1&sesskey=T5NvXLMZEl

The other thing that has disappeared is the button that allows me to "Login as" when viewing a user profile.

Please help.

Thank you.
Mandy

Are you the only admin on your Moodle? Are you root admin? Do you have ftp access to your Moodle?

Hi Mary,

This is the main admin (i.e. user id#0 or 1), there are others but it is not working under their (actually my other) accounts either. Yes i have ftp access.

I'm afraid I have tried that yes. Also changing theme etc. I do believe that I made a change to one (yes therein lies the problem - which one) of the options in admin and between walking from my desk at home to my desk at school the ability to edit disappeared! I have tried stepping through each and every option but just can't find what I might have done.

I had also done an upgrade in the meantime, having not realised there wa s a problem and so cannot roll the database back.

Hi Mandy (hope all is well aside from this Moodle issue)

Have you been able to solve it yet?

Hi Andrew smile

Nope, still not solved. I have switched all users straight to /my page but when they log out they still get the awful messed up home page because I can't change it.

Driving me a little nuts sad.

All the best
Mandy

It would be a bit of of a bodge fix, but could you do a server side 'forced' redirect to an alternative page such as the school homepage? You could force any index.php page to go there instead.

I left this for a while to try to mull over the options. Students and teachers haven't really been that effected (they are set to use mymoodle and login via a portal) except that I was half-way through a redesign when the admin role broke down.

But I haven't got anywhere except the idea that I am going to have to create a new site and restore all the courses to it.

I really don't know what I'm going to do with my 900+ users though.

I am very used to having to do back ups of db, of moving site from server to server; I have never tried to port an entire site and all its users (except admin) to a new site.

Any suggestions, warnings, advice would be very welcome.

Thanks
Mandy

The great news is that I just managed to fix this by using the

adminfix.php script found at

adminfix.php (about 3kb)

Not the first one that was published (about 1kb), or the one that I seem to have ended up with at some point which weighed in at 11kb. (So you can see that I did try this before several times.)

Interestingly it reset the primary admin to an admin account that I was using for google connectivity not the admin account I usually use, but to be honest, I simply don't care as long as I can make the edits I need to.

Thanks to everyone and anyone who has tried to help me over the last couple of months.

All the b est
Mandy

I'm glad it worked Mandy- seems like we have more than one version of adminfix.php around -but if this did the trick, then all the better.
