We are starting to design a maths course in the context of the ITEMS EU LLP project.

The TEST course (1 of 3 teaching units developed at the moment) can be visited at:
http://www.itemspro.net/moodle/
GEOMETRY: Lines, Angles and Circles (TESTING)
Non editing teacher role (user =alu, password= alu)

The course has some constraints:

content: a plane geometry module, lasting 1-2 months teaching. Intensive use of interactive (flash, geogebra) learning objects created/adapted purposely for the course.
learning objectives: develop many different basic skills/competencies (maths, science-astronomy, reading/writing, digital, social,...)
students: first year of secondary school (13 years old)
teachers: attend an online course, starting October, 15/20 hours-long, non editing teacher role. The course being aimed to familiarise with the material (preference for teachers wishing to test it with their students).
schools: the project will create a course for every school wishing to participate and will help enrol their students in the project server. Teachers will have most of editing permissions on their own course.
teachers feedback: A social-course will be created for teachers sharing experiences on the course being tested in classroom.
activities: intensive use of QUIZES, in fact a mixing of quiz with a format lesson, with a heavily formative purpose . The aim is to have the possibility, at any time, of changing/correcting questions, from the system question bank. Then the change would affect automatically to every school course.
collaboration: Use of collaborative tools, mainly forums (Q&A type). Use of google docs
grades: All activities graded, best way of students tracking and autocontrol
....
The main aim is to get feedback and to improve the course design and to share experiences with the Moodle community.

After testing it in different schools and in different countries (available in English, later in Spanish, Catalan, German and Slovenian), the course will be freely released.

Thanks in advance for your help
