Multilanguage Front page site news

Hello,

In my frontpage, Im using site news to put some content (that as some javascript). This content must to be translated.

To accomplish this my content as an iframe that point to a php. I would like to pass a parameter or something similar representing the language used in the front page to the php file. If the user selects in the front page the language, I can get the header of the call and discover the language used, because it is passed as a parametyer in the frontpage like this:index?lang=something.

The problem is that, when a user browse for the first time to my site, this parameter is not inserted in the link, and so Im not able to get the language.

So, anyone knows how to put the lang parameter in the first browse to my site? Im thinking about putting a redirect inside index.php or making another php file that will be the default page that will then call the index.php file, but I would like to ear about other options.

thank you
