I am new to Moodle, and I think it is a wonderful, powerful tool.  I am looking forward to learning more, and I am looking for an blog that someone has set up that I could look at to see how the blog module of moodle works.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Dave,

This is the address of my blog test site,

If you can wait for a few hours you will be able to login as

Teacher
teacher1010/teacher1010
OR
Student
student01/student01

I am running right now and cannot set up test logins.
You could also signup as a student yourself and check it out.

It is running a couple of errors I have to tell Daryl about but I do not think it will affect you.

This is a work in progrss so please have some patience with it.

Hi Everyone!

Please forgive me.  I have been running almost endlessly while only checking into Moodle sparadically.

I have created the Teacher and Student accounts I mentioned above.

teacher1010/teacher1010
student01/student01

Sorry for being so shaky about this.  I still have to get back to Daryl about a few errors.

Hey WP, quick question!

I noticed when I went to check out your blog you had a block called

This is a
MoodleBlog
Test Site

Now my question is how did you create your own BLOCK?;) Is there a document to explain how to do this?

Thanks!

Will

The blog package includes a rewrite of blocks. Jon has added this additional funcationlity to the moodle 1.5dev branch. When 1.5 releases there will be a new "html" block that can be used to add arbitrary html code to your pages.
Hope that helps.

Hi Will!

Looks like Daryl got back to you before I could.  Glad to hear about the "HTML" block for pending v1.5.  Hopefully one can have multiple instances of it on any page. Hint, Hint!! wink big grin

I did not use the HTML block to post the above text you are referring to.  This version is v1.4.1+.  I just used the settings for the front page.  You can reach it by clicking on the "Configuration" link in the Admin block on the front page and then the "
Site Settings" link on the Configuration page.  When you get to the Site Settings page you will see a text area (HTML Editor) named "Front Page Description:" which will allow you to place text or images in a block on the front page..

So your path should be,
HOME » Administration » Configuration » Site settings

I really need to update the code for that site.

Jon's new html block mirrors the one in the blog package exactly. It allows multiple instance per page with each one uniquely configurable.
