In Moodle 1.9 in users>authentication there is the option "external database" However, in Moodle 2.0 (or at least in my Moodle 2.0 ) it is not there. (It's still in enrolments though) Is this right and where is the explanation for it not being there? Thanks!

I am sure there is no plan to remove that. It may be temporarily broken. Can't see an exact bug in the tracker, but MDL-16023 looks related.
