Using 1.7.7, students may open a PDF WITHOUT nagging prompts.
Upgrading to 1.8.9, students opening PDFs REQUIRE clicking either: link or direct link.
Can this annoyance be disabled and simply allow the PDF to open?
Hi Chuck
While I can't help with your query I can say that sometimes I notice a few of our large PDFs take a few seconds to open by themselves in the browser or need a page refresh to load correctly.
There are lots of forums posts about this on this forum, see these post http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=124983#p547655 and

Thank you for the additional info.
The average student (including myself) does not understand the purpose of these nagging PDF Moodle prompts.
If you find how to disable the "link" prompts it would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Chuck

Hi Chuck
One option is to link to the file and select 'Same Window' and tick the 'Force Download' checkbox. This will force the user to open or save the file on their computer rather than in the browser. Users must have a PDF Viewer on their computers...
