WIKI dislikes PHP code esp [ ]

Hi all

I've been trying to use the Wiki module to make a small library of code blocks for my students.

All is well until I get to something like $variable[3]; The Wiki changes the square brackets to a ? (which what it should do).

Any way around this or should I go elsewhere in Moodle for this?
