hi all,
I am thinking of submitting an idea of developing a driver which actually connect moodle as frontend and Micorsoft SQl SERVER as backend. please vote this idea and if more votes comes i can put into google summer of code .

Moodle 1.7 and higher can already be installed under MS Sql - see:

Well, yes, but following changes to the DB layer in Moodle 2.0, the MSSQL driver needs some love. Also, PHP MSSQL drivers seem to be in a sucky state, so anything we can do on the Moodle side to make installation better might be worth it.

So, srinivasan, there might be a worthwhile project here, but I am not sure. The best person to contact about this would be Eloy Lafuente (Stronk 7) who is in a European time zone. I would suggest following the instructions on Applying_to_work_with_Moodle_for_GSOC to join the gsoc2009@conference.moodle.org Jabber chat at a time when people in Europe might be awake.
