Hi,
I created a front page news by using admin user. Before logging in, everyone is able to see the news. But after logging in, students are not able to see the news. Teachers and Administrator are able to see the news after logging in. When a student logs in, on the front page, in the news section, the following message is displayed:
"Site news
Unsubscribe from this forum
Subject (hidden)
Author (hidden)
This post cannot be viewed by you, probably because you have not posted in the discussion yet. ". Can anyone please tell me how I can display news to students also?

I'm having the same problem or something really close.
I had Site News that displayed on the Front Page. On Moodle v 1.8.2 it looked like this http://www.raritantraining.com. The site news provided easy access for guests to click on courses that are available to guests.
In an attempt to upgrade from v.1.8.2 to v1.9 we created a test site. http://raritantraining.com/testmoodle/
As you can see, the site news is now hidden from Guest Users visiting the site. It states "the post cannot be viewed by you probably because you have not posted in this discussion yet."
After reading many forums and checking many settings and permission this is what I have.
- Admin/Users/Permissions/User Policies Role for Visitors is set to Guest
- Admin/Users/Define Roles – I first reset all roles for Guest to restore default – Legacy Guest Roles. Then edited Forum – View Discussion = Allow.
- Admin/Front Page/Front Page Settings Default Frontpage Role = Guest
I need help. I just can’t figure this out.
