Hi! I'm an Italian teacher and I want to use moodle for my classroom. I have a Lycos free space at:

http://utenti.lycos.it/aquiel/moodle

The first time I ran moodle, I have this error in the admin/index.php:

Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in index.php on line 16

Warning: stat failed for (errno=2 - No such file or directory) in index.php on line 16

Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in index.php on line 17

Warning: It appears your server does not support sessions (session.save_path = '')

and in  profile admin file appeared this:
Warning: ini_get() has been disabled for security reasons in moodlelib.php on line 816

Can you help me please? What can I do to avoid these errors?Thank you

Hi,

If you search these forums for lycos: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/search.php?search=lycos&id=5

You'll find that Lycos has many restrictions that give Moodle problems.

Can you give me advice about a free hosting(like Lycos) for moodle without so many restrictions and problems? I can't spend money because my school is a public school(...poor angry.gif!!)

Thank you

Jenny

Unfortunately I don't know of any personally (but perhaps others would like to share their knowledge about this).

Have you considered setting Moodle up on your own computer? Or does the school have a computer always on the network? It doesn't have to be too fancy.

I agree.

You just need a network. If the network is internal, that is better in some ways, less issues with security for one.

If you have several computers that are hooked up to each othe, on a networkr, you can install Moodle and Apache and php and mySQL on one and you will be ready to go. It doesn't take a huge machine and will probably work on Windows 98 (I tested on Windows XP before moving to Linux)
